The Varsity is an Atlanta institution, and if you grew up in Atlanta, like I did, then you probably feel like it's the best at what it is. Sure, it's fast food but it's the fast food I grew up on and I love it. I live in Hiawassee now, but thank God there's one in Dawsonville, on my route back and forth to ATL!
The food was delicious! GET THE ONION RINGS! Also, the peach pie was amazing. Loved our visit!
Great dogs! Place is clean and staff is friendly. First time trying after being highly recommended. Great food and decently priced. Would definitely go back!
This place is my guilty pleasure! I used to go to the Varsity downtown when I was a kid after Braves games and remembered the long lines and yelling and just couldn’t wait to get some greasy food and go try to find a place to sit. Well now all of that is way up here in Dawsonville without the wait and plenty of seating! I basically was able to walk up within seconds of arriving and order the same things I always did and it still tastes the same as it did back in the 70’s and 80’s!! My favorite is the Chili Burger and Chili Dog Combo with the Onion Rings. They are so greasy but so tasty! They have this cayenne pepper shakers at the tables you can sprinkle anything you want to add some heat to. They have plenty of outside seating as well to enjoy on a nice day. Every time I’m up this way I can’t help but stop by!!
It was quiet and clean when I visited. The chili dog, frosted orange and fried peach pie were awesome. It has the same flavors as the Atlanta location. It's a pleasant atmosphere.
This was my first time eating at The Varsity. I was impressed. I had a burger and got some onions to put on it. It was great. I wasn't too fond of the fries . They tasted OK but was awful greasy. The service was fast and I like the option to get drink refills. The restaurant was clean and the restrooms were clean as well. I'll be going back to this place.
The perfect place for a quick lunch! We tried the chili dogs, bacon cheeseburger, fries, and onion rings; everything was great. Staff was friendly and the dining room was very clean.
The Varsity is an Atlanta icon. I enjoy stopping by every once in awhile and grabbing a chili dog. The service was fast and efficient, the staff was friendly. I enjoyed the chili dogs and onion rings. For desert I had a fried peach pie, also good.
